Fabrications Designer/Estimator

About the role

We are seeking a Fabrications Designer / Estimator to join our growing aluminium manufacturing and fabrication business in Poole. You will create high‑quality CAD/SolidWorks drawings for client approval and manufacturing, and support the estimating function by preparing quotations and project costings.

Key responsibilities

• Produce detailed and accurate CAD and SolidWorks drawings for manufacturing and client approval.
• Perform any required technical calculations for projects.
• Maintain and update CAD systems, CRM systems, project records and company processes.
• Create estimates and quotations from architectural and technical drawings, meeting agreed timescales.
• Obtain and review third‑party supplier quotations where needed.
• Process and manage new enquiries from customers and internal stakeholders.
• Provide technical support and guidance to the fabrication team.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers and site surveyors.
• Respond professionally to technical queries and project‑related issues.
• Stay up‑to‑date with industry developments, products, manufacturing methods and relevant legislation.
• Attend training and development activities as required.

Required profile

• Experience producing detailed fabrication drawings using CAD and/or SolidWorks.
• Ability to interpret architectural, technical and manufacturing drawings.
• Strong organisational and project‑management skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office applications.
