Fabricator Welder – Metal Fabrication

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Fabricator/Welder to join our established engineering business in Darlington. The successful candidate will produce high‑quality bespoke metal components from detailed engineering drawings, working in a fast‑paced workshop where safety and precision are essential.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Measure, mark out and prepare materials accurately.
• Cut, shape and modify metal using workshop equipment and hand tools.
• Perform MIG welding, including tacking and full welds, to a high standard.
• Operate power tools such as drills, grinders, polishers and riveters safely.
• Complete finishing activities – grinding, polishing and deburring.
• Inspect finished work to ensure compliance with quality standards and customer requirements.
• Adhere to health & safety procedures and workshop standards.
• Collaborate with the team to meet production deadlines.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Fabricator/Welder.
• Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and blueprints.
• Strong MIG welding experience across varied projects.
• Experience with sheet‑metal fabrication and component assembly.
• Excellent measuring and marking skills with good mathematical ability.
• Reliable, hardworking and quality‑focused with the ability to work independently.
