Face-to-Face Mentor

About the role

We are seeking compassionate Face-to-Face Mentors to work with vulnerable children and young people across SO31, Southampton, Portsmouth and surrounding Hampshire. You will provide dedicated 1:1 support, building trust and helping learners re‑engage with education and improve their wellbeing.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver consistent 1:1 mentoring sessions.
• Build positive, professional relationships with each young person.
• Encourage participation in educational and learning activities.
• Support confidence, resilience and emotional wellbeing.
• Act as a positive role model.
• Assist learners in achieving personalised goals and outcomes.

Required profile

• At least 6 months experience in an educational setting.
• Background as a Mentor, Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Tutor, Youth Worker, Teacher, Cover Supervisor or similar.
• Strong communication and relationship‑building abilities.
• Patient, empathetic and adaptable approach.
• Confidence working independently in a 1:1 environment.
• Experience supporting vulnerable young people or those with additional needs (desirable).
