Facilities Assistant / School Caretaker (Part‑time)

About the role

We are seeking a reliable Facilities Assistant / Caretaker to support the day‑to‑day management of a primary school in Roydon, Essex. The role is part‑time, 5 hours per day, with flexible hours to suit both the school and the successful candidate.

Key responsibilities

• Open and secure the school site each day.
• Carry out general caretaker and maintenance tasks.
• Conduct routine health and safety checks.
• Maintain safe, tidy, and well‑presented school grounds.
• Perform basic repairs and maintenance work.
• Liaise with external contractors when required.
• Support facilities management across the school.
• Assist with site preparation for school events and activities.

Required profile

• Previous experience in caretaker, site assistant, facilities, maintenance or premises roles.
• Practical, proactive and able to work independently.
• Good understanding of health and safety procedures.
• Dependable, trustworthy and takes pride in work.
• Excellent communication skills.
