Facilities & Maintenance Manager (Handyman)

About the role

We are seeking a dependable, practically‑minded Facilities & Maintenance Manager to oversee a commercial property site in Chelmsford. The role combines day‑to‑day repairs, grounds upkeep and tenant liaison, ensuring a safe, well‑presented environment for roughly 40 commercial units and nearby residential properties.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out minor repairs and maintenance including basic carpentry, painting and general fixes.
• Respond promptly to reactive maintenance requests and prioritise works to minimise tenant disruption.
• Coordinate larger refurbishment projects with specialist contractors, monitoring quality and deadlines.
• Maintain accurate records of all activities in the property management system.
• Perform grounds work: mowing, tree and hedge pruning, path and car‑park upkeep, seasonal leaf clearance and weed control.
• Serve as the primary on‑site contact for commercial tenants, communicating planned works and timelines.
• Inspect vacant units, document condition, identify required repairs or cleaning and report to the Property Manager.
