Facilities Manager – School Estate

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Facilities Manager to lead the day‑to‑day operation of a prestigious independent school estate in South East London. You will be responsible for maintaining a safe, compliant and high‑quality environment for pupils, staff and the wider community.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the management, maintenance and security of school buildings and grounds.
• Act as the designated Fire Officer and Competent Person for the site.
• Ensure full compliance with statutory requirements (gas, electricity, water, fire systems, asbestos, etc.).
• Plan and deliver preventative and reactive maintenance programmes.
• Manage budgets, service contracts and external contractors.
• Support improvement projects and the delivery of school and community events.

Required profile

• Proven experience in facilities, estates, FM, M&E or similar.
• Strong knowledge of health & safety and statutory compliance.
• Hands‑on, problem‑solving approach with a proactive attitude.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
