Facilities Technician – Caretaker/Maintenance

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Facilities Technician to maintain a busy educational campus in Salisbury. The role involves day‑to‑day upkeep of buildings, grounds and services, ensuring a safe and compliant environment for staff and students.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out routine maintenance, repairs and minor refurbishment works.
• Conduct site inspections to ensure safety and compliance.
• Coordinate and monitor contractors and on‑site service delivery.
• Support health & safety compliance, risk assessments and statutory inspections.
• Monitor fire safety and security systems and respond to issues.
• Act as a key holder, assisting with opening, closing and security procedures.
• Maintain maintenance records, compliance documentation and inventory logs.
• Obtain quotations, order materials and support contractor procurement.
• Use facilities management systems to track repairs, jobs and compliance activities.

Required profile

• Experience carrying out building maintenance or facilities‑related duties.
• Good understanding of health & safety and statutory compliance.
• Knowledge of building services, security and fire safety procedures.
• Full UK driving licence.

Required skills

• Microsoft Office.

What we offer

• Hourly rate of £16‑£18.
• Temporary contract until 1 September 2026 with potential extension.
• Full‑time hours: 08:00‑16:00 Mon‑Thu, 08:00‑15:30 Fri.
