Family Group Conference Lead

About the role
This six‑month secondment is for a Family Group Conference (FGC) Lead within the Edge of Care Service at Staffordshire County Council. Working 18.5 hours per week, you will support families to stay together by coordinating restorative family meetings and ensuring high‑quality service delivery.
Key responsibilities
- Receive, assess and allocate all referrals for Family Group Conferences to the appropriate convenors.
- Provide advice to partner agencies on eligibility and appropriateness of FGCs.
- Supervise and quality‑assure the FGC team, including conducting observations and reviewing family plans and risk assessments.
- Collaborate with senior practitioners and cover absences as needed.
- Attend weekly team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement of the service.
Required profile
- Relevant qualification (CQSW, Diploma in Social Work, or equivalent experience).
- Extensive experience delivering Family Group Conferences and a solid understanding of their methodology.
- Proven supervisory, coaching and mentoring experience within social work.
- Experience in quality assurance, observation of practice, and delivering high‑challenge support.
Required skills
- Knowledge of Family Group Conference principles and practice.
- Ability to assess referrals against statutory criteria.
- Strong supervisory and quality‑assurance capabilities.
