Family Support Worker

About the role

We are seeking a compassionate Family Support Worker to join a school community in Kings Norton. You will help vulnerable pupils and their families overcome barriers to education, improve attendance, and achieve positive outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Work directly with families to boost pupil attendance and engagement.
• Signpost and refer families to support organisations, charities and food banks.
• Conduct home visits and provide community‑based support as needed.
• Build strong relationships with pupils, parents, carers and external professionals.
• Maintain accurate records and take part in safeguarding, attendance and pastoral meetings.
• Collaborate with the school’s pastoral, safeguarding and attendance teams.

Required profile

• Significant experience supporting vulnerable children and families.
• Proven ability to build trusting relationships with families facing complex challenges.
• Experience working alongside external agencies and community support services.
• Full, clean UK driving licence and access to your own transport.
• Social Work qualification (desirable but not essential).
• Enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
• References covering the last 24 months.
