Family Time Worker – Bolton

About the role

The Family Time Worker will join the Children’s Services – Staying Safe team in Bolton, delivering high‑quality interventions for Looked After Children and their families. Working under the guidance of Family Time Team Leaders, you will support vulnerable families with complex needs across a range of settings.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to risk assessments and protect children from danger, harm, and abuse.
• Plan, record, and deliver interventions in line with the Framework for Action parenting capacity guidance.
• Provide evidence‑based support using EYFS guidance and behaviour‑management strategies.
• Work with families on protection plans in their homes where appropriate.
• Collaborate with professionals and agencies to ensure seamless service delivery.
• Escort children and families as needed and manage a caseload effectively.
• Mentor and supervise students and volunteers.

Required profile

• Level 3 qualification (e.g., NNEB, NVQ 3, BTEC, Early Years, Childcare, Health and Social Care, Youth and Community Studies).
• Experience working with children and families in support services.
• Ability to identify and act on risks to children’s safety.
• Strong time‑management and organisational skills.
• Capability to develop activities for children with additional needs or behavioural challenges.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) framework.
• Understanding of risk‑assessment and child‑protection procedures.
• Behaviour‑management techniques.
