Farm Trader

About the role

The Farm Trader will be responsible for purchasing combinable crops and selling seed and fertiliser products while promoting ADM Agriculture’s technical services to farmers. The role involves managing existing accounts and building new relationships across the South East England region.

Key responsibilities

• Purchase grain, oilseeds and pulses from farmer customers and negotiate contracts within ADM’s pricing guidelines.
• Sell seed and fertiliser products to existing accounts and acquire new business.
• Promote marketing campaigns in liaison with the Retail department.
• Provide outstanding customer service by following up on enquiries.
• Utilise company information to promote technical services to farmers.
• Manage workload effectively to maximise account and business potential.
• Operate in an environmentally sustainable manner and follow the company’s Environmental Management System.

Required profile

• Excellent understanding of combinable crops, OSR, pulses and their markets.
• Knowledge of AIC and FOSFA grain contracts.
• Familiarity with seed varieties, dressings and fertiliser types.
• Background in arable farming and relationship building.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel, and ability to use bespoke trading systems.
• Strong commercial awareness and ability to influence and communicate effectively.
