Fast Track Specialist File Handler

About the role

We are looking for a Fast Track Specialist File Handler to manage litigated motor instructions for key insurer clients and the Motor Insurers' Bureau (MIB). The role involves providing clear legal advice, developing case strategies and handling multi‑party claims in a fast‑track environment.

Key responsibilities

• Review files and ensure compliance with client guidelines, CPR Rules and court procedures.
• Formulate and document case strategy, agreeing approach with the client and drafting legal documents.
• Manage case budgets, monitor spend against fixed‑fee or hourly rates, and process bills according to guidelines.
• Undertake negotiations with third‑party solicitors and liaise with insured parties, insurers and brokers.
• Conduct court hearings, delegate tasks to paralegals and record time and management information accurately.

Required profile

• Proven experience handling Fast Track RTA litigated files and managing own caseload.
• Strong knowledge of indemnity, MIB agreements and the distinction between contractual, RTA and Article 75 insurers.
• Ability to draft defences, applications, witness statements and Part 35/18 questions.
• Excellent telephone negotiation skills and the capacity to work under pressure while maintaining tact.
