FCL Import Operations Coordinator

About the role

This role is responsible for managing full container load (FCL) import shipments from their origin to final delivery across the UK. You will work closely with overseas offices, shipping lines and internal teams to ensure that operational delivery meets the commitments made by the commercial side.

Key responsibilities

• Manage FCL import shipments from origin through to final delivery in the UK.
• Liaise with overseas offices to ensure smooth operations and timely information flow.
• Communicate with shipping lines regarding bookings, container availability and schedules.
• Coordinate customs clearance with the customs department.
• Arrange final deliveries with UK transport providers and third‑party facilities.
• Monitor shipments and proactively resolve operational issues to support key client shipments.
• Support the wider import team to maintain a smooth workflow across the department.
• Liaise with internal departments, including accounts, to ensure cargo can be released without delay.
• Maintain accurate shipment records and documentation, including Bills of Lading.

Required profile

• Previous experience in FCL import operations.
• Good working knowledge of container shipping processes and documentation.
• Understanding of shipping line relationships, container availability and carrier performance.
• Ability to manage shipments independently while contributing to a wider team.
• Strong organisational and problem‑solving abilities.
