Female Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA)

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated Female Independent Domestic Violence Advisor to join a housing association in Bristol. The role provides vital one‑to‑one support, advocacy and safety planning for women experiencing domestic abuse, helping them rebuild their lives.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver one‑to‑one support to survivors, responding to emergency cases as needed.
• Conduct Oasis needs assessments and co‑create support plans with service users.
• Provide safety‑planning advice and explain criminal and civil options.
• Facilitate access to legal, housing, benefits, education, medical and counselling services.
• Maintain recovery‑focused, strengths‑based records and regularly review support plans.

Required profile

• Demonstrable experience working with survivors of domestic abuse.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding and risk assessment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work within a multi‑disciplinary team.
• Empathetic, non‑judgmental and client‑centred approach.

Required skills

• Proficiency in completing Oasis needs assessments.
• Knowledge of UK domestic abuse legislation and support pathways.

What we offer

• Full‑time permanent position with a salary of £28,598 per year (£14.67 per hour plus holiday pay).
