Festival City Ambassador Team Leader

About the role

This temporary full‑time position leads a team of Festival City Ambassadors in Edinburgh’s city centre during the busy festival season. You will ensure visitors, residents and performers receive friendly, accurate information and a welcoming experience.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and support a team of Festival City Ambassadors, delivering daily briefings.
• Provide information on festivals, venues, transport, attractions and public facilities.
• Patrol the city centre, identify and report issues through appropriate channels.
• Handle complex enquiries, complaints and incidents escalated by the Ambassador team.
• Record interactions, incidents and visitor feedback, producing reports for senior officers.
• Collaborate with Council teams, Police Scotland and other stakeholders to ensure coordinated operations.
• Promote the city’s values of respect, flexibility and integrity in all interactions.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety, risk assessments, GDPR and Council policies.
• Support promotional and social‑media activities where appropriate.

Required profile

• Previous experience leading a customer‑facing team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Confident, approachable and professional demeanor.
• Strong knowledge of Edinburgh and enthusiasm for its festivals and culture.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and resolve complaints effectively.
• Proactive, organised and adaptable work style.
• Understanding of GDPR and handling of confidential information.
