About the role
The Field Application Engineer will support customers using Motion Applied hardware, embedded software, off‑car configuration and data analysis tools. The role involves worldwide travel, unsocial hours and weekend work, acting as the customer’s voice within the company.
Key responsibilities
- Provide on‑track, remote and on‑premises support for motorsport customers.
- Represent the customer’s viewpoint internally and influence product strategy.
- Work with internal teams to resolve issues and improve departmental procedures.
- Diagnose hardware and software problems, distinguishing system failures from environmental issues.
- Identify opportunities to add value with additional Motion Applied products or solutions.
Required profile
- Accurately interpret field observations and advise or escalate solutions.
- Diagnose hardware and software problems under pressure with a methodical approach.
- Strong communication skills to capture information quickly and accurately.
- Good understanding of electronic elements of motorsport systems and powertrains, including typical sensors and actuators.
- Trackside experience in a motorsport environment.
- Graduate level degree (minimum Upper Second‑Class Honours) in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
Required skills
- MATLAB, Simulink, Stateflow
- Data analysis tools such as ATLAS
- ECU set‑up tools (e.g., System Monitor)
- Excel VBA
- Programming languages: Python, Java, C#, C++
