Field Interviewer – Croydon

About the role

As a Field Interviewer you will visit households in the Croydon area to carry out research interviews on topics such as health, housing and transport. Using a tablet or laptop you will guide conversations that capture real experiences of daily life in Britain.

Key responsibilities

• Knock on doors and conduct face‑to‑face interviews in participants’ homes.
• Use a tablet or laptop to record responses and ensure data quality.
• Travel to assigned neighbourhoods and manage your own schedule.
• Handle refusals and no‑shows professionally while maintaining a positive attitude.
• Submit interview data promptly according to project guidelines.

Required profile

• Valid UK driving licence and sole use of a car.
• Class 1 business insurance for the vehicle.
• Right to work in the UK and willingness to complete a DBS check.
• Reliable home broadband and a laptop or tablet with a working camera.
• At least 18 hours per week available, with flexibility for weekdays, evenings and weekends.
• Strong verbal and written English.

Required skills

• Basic proficiency using a tablet or laptop for data entry.
• Ability to follow interview scripts and record information accurately.

What we offer

• £20‑£30 per interview (typical rate).
• Admin fees and holiday pay (12.1%).
• Travel time paid at £4.68 per hour and mileage reimbursement at 36p per mile (up to 10,000 miles).
• £250 bonus after launch, with additional £250 bonuses at two and four months.
• Average hourly rate of about £15.12, higher for experienced interviewers.
