About the role
As a Field Interviewer you will visit households across North London to conduct face‑to‑face research interviews on topics such as health, housing and transport. Using a tablet or laptop you will capture participants’ real‑life experiences, helping NatCen Social Research produce evidence that informs policy and improves lives.
Key responsibilities
- Knock on doors and arrange interviews with residents who have received a prior invitation letter.
- Conduct structured interviews using a tablet or laptop, ensuring accurate data capture.
- Travel to assigned areas, recording travel time and mileage as required.
- Maintain professional conduct and adhere to health and safety guidelines while working independently.
Required profile
- Valid UK driving licence and sole use of a car.
- Class 1 business insurance for vehicle use.
- Right to work in the UK and willingness to complete a DBS check.
- Reliable home broadband and a laptop or tablet with a camera.
- Minimum 18 hours availability per week with flexibility for weekdays, evenings and weekends.
Required skills
- Comfortable using basic technology (tablet/laptop) for data entry.
What we offer
- £20‑£30 per interview, plus admin fees, holiday pay and travel compensation.
- Travel time paid at £4.68 per hour and mileage at 36p per mile (up to 10,000 miles).
- Performance bonuses: £250 after launch and additional £250 at two and four months.
- Average hourly rate around £15.12, higher for experienced interviewers.
