Field Interviewer – Part‑time (Chelmsford)

About the role

As a Field Interviewer you will visit households in Chelmsford and surrounding areas to conduct face‑to‑face research interviews on topics such as health, housing and transport. Using a tablet or laptop you will guide conversations that capture real‑world experiences, helping to shape public policy and services.

Key responsibilities

• Knock on doors and arrange interviews with residents who have received a prior invitation letter.
• Conduct structured interviews using a tablet or laptop, ensuring accurate data capture.
• Record observations, manage interview schedules and report any issues encountered in the field.
• Travel to assigned locations, logging mileage and travel time as required.

Required profile

• Valid UK driving licence and sole use of a car.
• Class 1 business insurance for vehicle use.
• Right to work in the UK and willingness to complete a DBS check.
• At least 18 hours per week availability, with flexibility for weekdays, evenings and weekends.
• Strong verbal and written English communication skills.

• Laptop or tablet with a working camera.
• Comfortable using basic technology and online forms.

What we offer

• £20‑£30 per completed interview, plus admin fees and holiday pay.
• Travel compensation at £4.68 per hour and mileage reimbursement at 36p per mile (up to 10,000 miles).
• Performance bonuses (£250 after launch and at two‑month intervals).
• Average hourly rate of £15.12, with higher rates for experienced interviewers.
