Field Service Engineer – Generators (North East England)

About the role

Join a leading UK engineering firm as a Field Service Engineer, responsible for both planned and reactive maintenance of diesel generators across the North East region. The role is primarily home‑based with regular travel to client sites and occasional visits to the Birtley depot.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled preventative maintenance on a variety of diesel generators.
• Respond to emergency breakdowns and perform reactive repairs.
• Participate in an out‑of‑hours rota (1 week in 6) with paid minimum hours and double‑time after 6 pm.
• Maintain accurate service records and report on equipment status.
• Travel safely across the regional patch, adhering to company health and safety standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience working on generators or plant‑hire equipment.
• Full, clean UK driving licence.
• Motivation to develop technical expertise through industry‑specific training.
• Ex‑forces candidates are encouraged to apply.
