Field Service Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Field Service Engineer to join a leading machine‑tool specialist supporting blue‑chip customers in aerospace, automotive, defence and advanced manufacturing. The role is based in Glasgow and involves regular international and European travel to service, install and commission equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Attend breakdowns and diagnose electrical and mechanical faults on automated machinery.
• Carry out servicing, repairs and planned maintenance of CNC and machine‑tool equipment.
• Support installation and commissioning of new equipment, including electrical controls, hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Perform fault finding on PLCs and other control systems.
• Read and interpret technical drawings to guide repairs and maintenance.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Service Engineer, Maintenance Engineer or Field Engineer.
• Strong fault‑finding ability across electrical and mechanical systems.
• Confidence working independently on breakdowns.
• Exposure to PLC fault finding is highly desirable.
• Experience with automated machinery, CNC, robotics or similar equipment.
