Field Service Engineer – Pumps (Southwest England)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer specialising in pumps to join a well‑established engineering business serving water treatment, manufacturing and utilities across the South West. The role involves travelling to customer sites to install, maintain and repair a variety of pump systems, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.

Key responsibilities

• Service, repair and overhaul centrifugal, submersible and positive displacement pumps.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults on‑site and carry out corrective actions.
• Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) according to schedules.
• Install, commission and test new pump installations.
• Provide technical advice and support to customers.
• Complete accurate service reports and documentation after each visit.

Required profile

• Proven experience with industrial or commercial pump systems.
• Strong mechanical and/or electrical fault‑finding abilities.
• Good understanding of hydraulics and rotating equipment.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Self‑motivated with strong customer‑facing skills.
• Relevant certifications such as IPAF, Confined Space Training, 18th edition Electrical Competency.

Required skills

• Centrifugal, submersible and positive displacement pump knowledge.
• Mechanical fault diagnosis.
• Electrical fault diagnosis (18th edition).
• Hydraulics principles.
• Use of IPAF‑certified equipment.
