Filler Operator

About the role

The Filler Operator works as part of the production team to run the filling machine safely and efficiently, ensuring high‑quality cartons are produced while minimizing waste. The role is based on‑site in Cardiff and involves three‑shift working within the Operations department.

Key responsibilities

• Perform all machine operator functions on the filler, following safety procedures.
• Carry out and document routine checks, cleaning, CIP and sterilisation according to schedule.
• Maintain optimal machine efficiency, monitor waste, and ensure correct packaging and carton coding.
• Liaise with the Team Leader on production plans, issues, and maintenance needs.
• Report accidents, near‑misses, spills, and material losses to the Shift Manager.
• Keep the filler area clean under the “clean as you go” policy and ensure proper PPE use and storage.
• Support health and safety initiatives and perform any additional duties assigned by Production Management.

Required profile

• Proficient in cleaning, operating, and maintaining the filler machine.
• Ability to operate all packaging equipment on the filling line.
• Literacy and numeracy skills for accurate record‑keeping.
• Basic food hygiene training and manual handling training.
• Awareness of emergency procedures, hazardous material safety, and company policies on quality, environment, health & safety, and personal hygiene.
