Finance Assistant - Accounts Receivable

About the role

Abacus Consulting is supporting a well‑known organisation in Luton that needs a Finance Assistant dedicated to Accounts Receivable. The successful candidate will become part of a busy, fast‑paced finance team, handling day‑to‑day receivable operations. This is a permanent, full‑time role based entirely in the office, offering a salary of £29,000 per year plus a benefits package.

Key responsibilities

• Import, clean and export large data sets using Microsoft Excel.
• Generate and send accurate invoices to customers.
• Perform regular reconciliations of the sales ledger and allocate cash receipts.
• Investigate and resolve payment queries from clients and internal departments.
• Support the Accounts Receivable Manager with reporting and ad‑hoc projects.
• Maintain up‑to‑date records in the accounting system and ensure compliance with company policies.

Required profile

• Previous experience in accounts receivable, sales ledger, credit control or billing.
• Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with a team.
• Comfortable handling a high volume of transactions in a deadline‑driven environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including data manipulation and formula creation.
