Finance Assistant / Bookkeeper

About the role

We are seeking a hands‑on and proactive Finance Assistant to join a busy finance team in South East England. This role is ideal for an experienced finance professional who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and can hit the ground running.

Key responsibilities

• Process and reconcile company expenses.
• Perform credit‑card reconciliations.
• Assist with monthly close procedures.
• Maintain and reconcile subcontractor ledgers.
• Monitor and process direct charges.
• Support the wider finance team with day‑to‑day accounting duties.
• Investigate and resolve account discrepancies.
• Ensure accurate financial records are maintained.
• Assist with reporting and finance administration as required.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Finance Assistant, Accounts Assistant or similar role.
• Strong reconciliation experience, particularly with expenses, credit cards and month‑end processes.
• Good understanding of subcontractor ledger management.
• Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
• Team player with a positive, hands‑on attitude.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Required skills

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience using finance systems.
