Finance Assistant – Fixed‑Term Maternity Cover

About the role

We are seeking a Finance Assistant to provide maternity cover for a third‑sector organisation based in Watford. This is a full‑time, 12‑month fixed‑term contract with a flexible, hybrid working arrangement.

Key responsibilities

• Process local invoices, including monthly mileage, ad‑hoc invoices and occasional project billing.
• Carry out cash and bank reconciliations and input weekly bank and credit‑card receipts.
• Monitor local procurement activities and conduct monthly reviews of APP and commissioned hours.
• Address invoice queries, supply copy invoices on request and manage regular credit control.
• Perform month‑end petty‑cash import and reconciliation.
• Review community nominal codes to ensure correct coding of income and expenditure.
• Provide finance cover for central finance and other local community finance functions as needed.

Required profile

• Strong organisational abilities and experience in accounts transaction processing.
• Attention to detail and a positive, personable approach.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to undergo a standard DBS check.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
