Finance Assistant – London

About the role

This position supports the finance function of an international law firm based in the City of London. You will work within a collaborative team, handling a mix of transactional and operational finance tasks while gaining exposure to legal billing processes.

Key responsibilities

• Enter data, process invoices and maintain accurate financial records.
• Prepare client bills, manage time entries, edit narratives and ensure compliance with billing guidelines.
• Process accounts payable and receivable, reconcile vendor invoices and monitor outstanding payments.
• Maintain Excel trackers for expenses, payments and other finance data.
• Produce financial reports, analytics and WIP/time summary documents for the Legal Support Team.
• Work with legal teams to resolve billing queries and discrepancies.
• Reconcile IPO accounts, process IPO invoices and keep related records.
• Support client account transactions in line with SRA Accounts Rules and internal controls.
• Provide general administrative assistance such as filing, archiving and document management.

Required profile

• Good knowledge of SRA guidelines and legal accounting practices.
• Strong familiarity with legal accounting software.
• Excellent time‑management skills and ability to meet multiple deadlines.
• Attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem solving.
