Finance Assistant – Part‑time

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Finance Assistant to support a fast‑growing engineering company in central Bristol. Working part‑time (16‑25 hours per week) you will help keep the finance function running smoothly while enjoying flexible working patterns.

Key responsibilities

• Process approved supplier invoices, ensuring accuracy, VAT evidence and consistency.
• Manage supplier records, including onboarding and maintaining accurate details.
• Handle the finance inbox and respond to routine queries.
• Process expenses and credit‑card transactions, ensuring receipts and coding are complete.
• Reconcile bank accounts regularly and keep records current.
• Raise and send customer invoices and follow up on overdue payments.
• Prepare supplier payment runs for review and approval.
• Collate payroll inputs and support month‑end reconciliations and schedules.
• Maintain VAT evidence and supporting documentation.
• Improve data quality and identify simple process improvements.

Required profile

• Experience in a finance assistant, accounts assistant, bookkeeping, finance administrator or similar role.
• Good practical understanding of supplier invoices, customer invoices, expenses, bank reconciliations and basic finance records.
• Able to work independently across fixed part‑time days while maintaining momentum and providing clear handovers.
• Comfortable using finance systems, spreadsheets and internal digital tools.
• Confident communicating professionally with suppliers, customers and colleagues.
• Capable of managing a meaningful finance admin workload without losing detail or creating backlogs.
