Finance Assistant – Support Core Accounting & Reporting

About the role
This Finance Assistant position offers a hands‑on opportunity to support a busy finance function within a close‑knit team. You will be involved in day‑to‑day accounting activities, stakeholder liaison and routine period‑end processes.
Key responsibilities
- Process and record daily banking activity and perform regular account reconciliations.
- Manage purchase ledger duties: invoice processing, supplier statement reviews, query resolution and payment runs.
- Support sales ledger and credit control: issue customer statements, set up new accounts, run credit checks and chase outstanding balances.
- Handle finance‑related queries via a shared inbox and escalate when necessary.
- Prepare and circulate weekly financial or sales reports to relevant stakeholders.
- Assist with month‑end close activities, including journal entries and supporting schedules.
- Reconcile selected balance‑sheet accounts and maintain petty‑cash records.
- Provide general finance support and undertake ad‑hoc tasks as required.
Required profile
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Previous exposure to accounting or transactional finance roles.
- Strong attention to detail with a methodical, organised approach.
- Confident communicator with a professional demeanor when dealing with colleagues.
- Ability to manage deadlines, prioritise workload and adapt to changing requirements.

- Sage (accounting software – beneficial but not essential)
