Finance Business Partner

We’re working with an established and successful manufacturing business looking for an ambitious and commercially minded Finance Business Partner to join its senior finance team. This role goes beyond traditional management accounting, partnering with senior stakeholders to turn financial data into insight that shapes commercial decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and ownership of monthly management accounts, providing meaningful analysis and commentary.
• Partner with senior leaders and budget holders, offering financial challenge and driving improved commercial performance.
• Analyse financial and operational KPIs, identifying trends, risks and opportunities.
• Own balance‑sheet integrity, including reconciliations, controls and review.
• Take ownership of stock valuation, reconciliations and provisioning, including standard costing.
• Play a key role in annual budgeting, forecasting and re‑forecasting.
• Own cash‑flow forecasting and working‑capital management, delivering clear recommendations to senior management.
• Support external audits and act as the primary contact for auditors.
• Oversee VAT returns and relevant regulatory submissions, including ONS returns where required.
• Continually improve financial controls, processes and reporting.
• Support the Finance Manager with strategic projects and wider business initiatives.
• Deputise for the Finance Manager during periods of absence.
• Provide coaching and support to junior finance team members as needed.

Required profile

• Confident, commercially focused accountant comfortable working with senior stakeholders and challenging the status quo.
• Previous experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong experience owning management accounts and ensuring balance‑sheet integrity.
• Proven experience with stock valuation, stock provisioning and standard costing.
• Extensive budgeting, forecasting and financial planning expertise.
• Experience mentoring or coaching members of a finance team (highly desirable).
