Finance Consultant - Transformation Programme Management

About the role

The Local Authority in the South West is seeking an experienced Finance Consultant to lead a large‑scale transformation programme. You will translate strategic objectives into structured plans, ensure robust governance and deliver measurable benefits across multiple directorates.

Key responsibilities

• Mobilise, plan and deliver a complex, cross‑directorate transformation programme.
• Oversee programme governance, including risk, issue, dependency, financial and benefits management.
• Translate strategic priorities into clear programme plans, governance structures and delivery milestones.
• Coordinate multiple workstreams, ensuring alignment, collaboration and timely delivery.
• Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders and provide reporting, insight and decision‑making support.
• Support identification, development and prioritisation of transformation initiatives across specialist teams.

Required profile

• Extensive experience delivering large‑scale transformation or programme management in a complex, multi‑stakeholder environment.
• Proven ability to turn strategic objectives into structured delivery plans and successful outcomes.
• Strong programme management expertise, including governance, risk, financial and benefits management.
• Experience leading cross‑functional teams and working collaboratively across organisational boundaries.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication and influencing skills, especially with senior leadership.
