Finance Controller – Financial Governance & Business Partner

About the role

The Finance Controller will lead robust financial governance and provide commercial insight to support both operational and strategic decision‑making. This senior position combines hands‑on leadership of an in‑house finance team with high‑quality reporting and internal controls.

Key responsibilities

• Own financial controls, month‑/year‑end close, balance‑sheet integrity, statutory accounts, VAT, corporation tax and audit management.
• Produce monthly management accounts, KPIs, forecasts and variance analysis for strategic decisions.
• Lead annual budgeting, re‑forecasting and cost‑control initiatives with operational teams.
• Deliver site profitability analysis, operational KPI reporting, pricing support, financial modelling and investment appraisals.
• Partner with the Finance Director and business leaders to drive performance and profitability.
• Lead, develop and manage the finance team, ensuring accurate transactional finance and payroll support.
• Manage cash flow, optimise working capital and oversee receivables/payables.
• Drive continuous improvement of finance systems, reporting automation and transformation projects.
• Maintain strong relationships with auditors, banks, tax advisors and senior stakeholders.

Required profile

• Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
• Strong knowledge of financial regulations and reporting standards.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Proven experience managing and developing high‑performing finance teams.
• Effective communication skills for stakeholder engagement at all levels.
