Finance Controller (fluent Japanese)

About the role

We are seeking a Finance Controller with fluent Japanese to join a Japanese‑owned business in London. The role combines strategic financial leadership with hands‑on management of reporting, budgeting and internal controls across multiple international entities.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and management accounts.
• Lead the annual budgeting process and regular forecasting cycles.
• Review and consolidate financial reports from entities in the Netherlands, the United States and France.
• Manage cash‑flow planning, forecasting and reporting.
• Develop, implement and improve internal controls and financial processes.
• Coordinate year‑end audits and liaise with external auditors.
• Ensure compliance with VAT, Corporation Tax and other regulatory requirements.
• Oversee preparation and filing of statutory accounts.
• Lead and develop the local finance team.
• Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support strategic decision‑making.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in a senior finance role such as Finance Controller, Financial Controller or Senior Finance Manager.
• Proven experience managing finance teams and handling tax/finance matters for multiple international entities.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge of IFRS and/or UK GAAP.
• Demonstrated ability in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow management.
