Finance Director

About the role

Groundwork London is looking for an experienced Finance Director to lead finance, HR, IT and facilities across more than 300 environmental and community projects in London and the South East. The role sits on the Senior Leadership Team, reporting to the Executive Director and the Board, and offers the chance to make an immediate impact in a mission‑driven, not‑for‑profit organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and oversee strategic finance, budgeting and forecasting for a multi‑project environment.
• Lead the preparation of statutory accounts, financial reporting and board presentations.
• Manage a finance team of eight professionals, ensuring high‑quality service delivery.
• Oversee corporate services functions including HR, IT and facilities management.
• Provide financial insight and guidance to senior leadership and the Board.

Required profile

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified accountant with extensive finance leadership experience.
• Proven ability to lead a growing finance function in a service‑led, project‑rich organisation.
• Experience working within a tight‑knit senior leadership team and reporting to a board.
• Strong communicator who can build relationships with colleagues, partners and stakeholders.
