Finance Director

About the role

Butler Rose is supporting a successful manufacturing business in Somerset with a senior Finance Director appointment. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the role combines strategic direction with hands‑on financial leadership to drive profitability, support growth and improve operational performance.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with the Managing Director and senior leadership to shape strategic planning and growth initiatives.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting and financial planning, providing clear visibility of business performance.
• Deliver high‑quality management information and reporting for operational and strategic decision‑making.
• Monitor cash flow, working capital and overall financial performance, identifying risks and opportunities.
• Support investment decisions through financial analysis, modelling and commercial evaluation.
• Collaborate with operational teams to improve profitability, efficiency and performance.
• Maintain robust financial controls, compliance and governance across the business.
• Manage relationships with banking partners, auditors and external advisers.
• Lead and develop a small finance team, fostering a collaborative, high‑performing culture.

Required profile

• ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified with proven senior finance leadership experience.
• Extensive experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably food manufacturing or FMCG.
• Demonstrated ability to partner with senior leadership and influence strategic decisions.
• Strong commercial acumen with expertise in budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling and cash‑flow management.
• Experience managing working capital, treasury activities and banking relationships.
• Track record of leading and developing finance teams and delivering operational improvements.
