Finance Director – Multi‑site Retail

About the role

This is an outstanding opportunity to join a well‑established, multi‑site retail business that has returned to sustainable profitability and is now entering its next growth phase. As Finance Director you will act as a trusted partner to the Managing Director, shaping strategy and driving operational performance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop the finance function, ensuring best practice in reporting, controls, compliance and governance.
• Define and deliver the financial strategy aligned with wider business objectives.
• Act as Senior Accounting Officer for HMRC.
• Own working capital, cash‑flow, forecasting and financial planning.
• Provide commercial insight and challenge to support performance and strategic decisions.
• Partner with the Managing Director to solve complex business challenges across functions.
• Support operational improvement initiatives across the business.
• Present financial and operational performance to senior leadership and shareholders.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, profitability and long‑term performance.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant with proven experience as a Finance Director in a multi‑site retail environment.
• Strong commercial judgement and the credibility to act as a genuine business partner.
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive strategic initiatives.
• Experience delivering financial strategy, governance and operational improvement.
