Finance Manager – 12 Month Contract

About the role

We are seeking a commercially‑minded Finance Manager to join a well‑established, financially secure organisation for a 12‑month contract. Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will partner with operational managers, produce insightful management information and help drive strategic decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Produce monthly management accounts and support the month‑end close process.
• Monitor budgets, analyse variances and provide financial insights to budget holders.
• Act as a trusted business partner, challenging and supporting operational decision‑making.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns.
• Assist with year‑end processes, audit coordination and broader accounting activities.
• Lead and develop a small transactional finance team.
• Support the Head of Finance with reporting and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Identify opportunities to enhance financial processes, controls and reporting.

Required profile

• Proven experience producing management accounts and supporting month‑end reporting.
• Strong analytical ability and confidence building relationships with diverse stakeholders.
• Exposure to financial accounting activities such as year‑end accounts, audit or statutory reporting is desirable.
• Experience managing or supervising staff is advantageous but not essential.
• Proactive, commercially minded with a desire to improve processes.
• AAT, ACCA, CIMA or ACA qualification is beneficial, though not mandatory.
