Finance Manager – Back‑Office Lead

About the role

Harper May Ltd is seeking a Finance Manager to own the full finance operation of its fast‑growing financial services business. Reporting to the Finance Director, you will be the first dedicated manager in a newly‑structured team, giving you genuine ownership of month‑end close, statutory reporting and day‑to‑day financial control.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the monthly close process and produce accurate financial statements and management accounts.
• Manage balance‑sheet reconciliations, fixed assets and the internal controls framework.
• Prepare and coordinate statutory accounts, tax returns and FCA regulatory filings.
• Build and maintain cash‑flow forecasting and working‑capital management disciplines.
• Review accounting processes and recommend improvements to efficiency and control.
• Support budgeting and performance reporting for senior leadership.
• Oversee accounting software and ensure data integrity across the finance function.

Required profile

• ACA, ACCA, CIMA qualification or equivalent professional experience.
• Hands‑on experience in financial services, wealth management or a regulated environment.
• Strong technical accounting competence with proven control and compliance experience.
• Demonstrated ability to manage month‑end close and liaise with external auditors and regulators.
• Comfortable driving process improvement and working independently within a small team.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software.
