Finance Manager – Educational Trust

About the role

Our client, an educational trust, is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to support the Director of Finance. The role involves overseeing day‑to‑day finance operations, delivering accurate reporting, and providing strategic financial insight within a school environment.

Key responsibilities

• Line‑manage Finance Officer(s) and oversee finance operations.
• Approve purchase orders, invoices and BACS payment runs.
• Lead month‑end processes, including journals, reconciliations and financial close.
• Prepare monthly management accounts and financial re‑forecasts.
• Support annual budget preparation and three‑year financial planning.
• Monitor income and expenditure against budgets, identifying risks and opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations, policies and internal controls.
• Support procurement processes and value‑for‑money initiatives.
• Contribute to year‑end financial activities and audit requirements.
• Provide financial insight and analysis to senior leaders.

Required profile

• Part‑qualified or fully qualified accountant, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum five years of relevant finance experience.
• Strong understanding of financial management, budgeting and reporting.
• Proven commitment to continuous professional development.
• Excellent organisational, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Commitment to high standards, accuracy and continuous improvement.
• Awareness of safeguarding and welfare of children and young people.
