Finance Manager

About the role

We are seeking a Finance Manager to take full ownership of the finance function at a profitable manufacturing business in Milnrow. Reporting to the parent company, you will be hands‑on, managing day‑to‑day transactions while providing strategic financial insight to senior stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the transactional finance function, including purchase ledger, sales ledger and bank reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly management accounts and reporting packs for directors and the group.
• Own the month‑end close process, handling accruals, pre‑payments and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Support the annual budgeting and forecasting cycle.
• Monitor cash flow and working capital, escalating risks as needed.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, VAT regulations and statutory requirements.
• Liaise with external auditors and support the year‑end audit.
• Review and improve finance processes and internal controls.
• Manage and develop one direct report within the transactional team.
• Collaborate with operational stakeholders to aid business decision‑making.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience running a transactional finance function in a similar‑sized business, preferably manufacturing.
• Strong track record of producing management accounts for a group structure.
• Confidence in owning the full month‑end close.
• Willingness to quickly learn SAGE 50 or a comparable package.
• Comfortable dealing directly with external auditors.
• Solid people‑management experience, including developing a direct report.
• Excellent communication skills with senior and operational teams.
• Hands‑on, proactive attitude with a focus on process improvement.
