Finance Manager – Retail Business

About the role

We are a fast‑growing retail business looking for an experienced Finance Manager to lead our finance function across multiple sites in London. You will work closely with senior leadership, handling day‑to‑day financial operations while shaping long‑term strategic plans.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily cash, bank and card reconciliations across multiple locations.
• Monitor cash flow, banking activities and enforce financial controls.
• Manage supplier accounts, invoice queries and purchasing processes.
• Prepare payroll information and ensure timely submissions.
• Post journals, including accruals and pre‑payments, and maintain accurate financial records.
• Lead month‑end close processes and support the preparation of management accounts.
• Complete balance‑sheet reconciliations and maintain the fixed‑asset register.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns and manage communications with HMRC.
• Support statutory compliance, including Companies House filings and corporation tax.
• Deliver financial and operational reporting to senior stakeholders.
• Monitor costs, identify efficiencies and assist with budgeting and forecasting.
• Provide commercial finance support to store operations.
• Liaise with external auditors and advisors.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Finance Manager or in a comparable senior finance role.
• Background in retail, FMCG or other multi‑site environments is preferred.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge, especially VAT and payroll.
• Part‑qualified accountant (ACCA/ACA/CIMA) desirable.
• Excellent organisational skills with high attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate effectively and partner across the business.
