Finance Manager – SME Manufacturing

About the role

Join a family‑owned, niche advanced manufacturing business in Nelson as a Finance Manager. The role sits at the heart of a growing SME where finance is becoming central to strategic decision‑making, offering real influence in a stable environment.

Key responsibilities

• Own the month‑end close and produce accurate management accounts.
• Prepare accruals, pre‑payments and provide clear commentary on business performance.
• Manage cash flow, cost control, balance‑sheet reconciliations and budgeting.
• Drive improvements in reporting and finance processes.
• Lead and develop a small team of two Management Accountants.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a management‑accounts role, preferably within an SME.
• Experience managing a small finance team.
• Understanding of foreign‑currency processes, especially EUR, and exchange‑rate impacts.
• Hands‑on involvement with stock control, pricing, VAT returns and external audit.
