Finance Officer – 12‑Month Fixed‑Term Role

About the role

We are looking for a Finance Officer to join a large, established organisation on the outskirts of Kendal. This 12‑month fixed‑term position offers the chance to work closely with the Financial Controller and gain exposure to management accounts, budgeting, forecasting and operational finance.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Financial Controller in preparing management accounts, forecasts and financial reports.
• Investigate variances, support budgeting activities and produce balance‑sheet reconciliations, accruals, pre‑payments and journals.
• Oversee purchase ledger processes and manage expenditure analysis.
• Support property, facilities and project cost monitoring.
• Handle banking activities, payment processing and reconciliations.
• Identify and implement process improvements for greater efficiency.

Required profile

• Experience in a finance, accounts or bookkeeping environment.
• Strong analytical and reconciliation abilities.
• Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with financial systems.
• Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and a proactive attitude.
• AAT Level 4 (or studying towards it) is advantageous, though equivalent experience is acceptable.
