Finance Officer – Temp to Perm

About the role

We are seeking a Finance Officer to support a busy education organisation in South West London. The role starts on a temporary basis with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate. You will report to the Director of Finance and help ensure smooth day‑to‑day financial operations.

Key responsibilities

• Process orders, invoices and payments using Xero and support monthly reconciliations.
• Raise purchase orders, match them to invoices and run weekly BACS payments.
• Set up new suppliers, manage petty cash and process journals for printing and IT costs.
• Produce termly charges for curriculum and administrative stationery and generate statements for budget holders.
• Liaise with suppliers and budget holders to resolve queries.
• Assist the Interim Finance Director with specific account administration and ad‑hoc tasks.
• Provide general office administration support, including handling calls and issuing lunch cards.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Finance Officer, Finance Assistant, Accounts Payable or similar role within the education sector.
• Proven use of both PS Financials and Xero.
• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication skills.
