Finance Operations Manager (Travel)

About the role

This newly created Finance Operations Manager role supports the Head of Finance in a private membership travel service. You will lead the clearance of a backlog of financial transactions, ensure accurate month‑end reporting and help improve finance processes across the business.

Key responsibilities

• Clear backlog of financial transactions and reconciliations.
• Review and improve existing finance processes.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, P&L statements and balance‑sheet reconciliations.
• Produce variance analysis against budget/forecast with commentary.
• Post month‑end journals including accruals, pre‑payments and depreciation.
• Perform bank and inter‑company reconciliations.
• Maintain the fixed‑asset register and calculate depreciation.
• Manage end‑to‑end payroll and VAT returns.
• Support year‑end statutory accounts preparation and audit.
• Provide regular financial reporting and business partnering with internal and external stakeholders.

Required profile

• Recent, relevant experience in a similar finance role with strong knowledge of management accounts, payroll and VAT.
• Experience in the travel or hospitality sector, preferably with exposure to commission payment platforms.
• Proven ability to clear high‑volume backlogs.
• Solid understanding of double‑entry bookkeeping.
• Advanced Excel skills, including VLOOKUP and Pivot Tables.
