Finance Supervisor / Team Leader – Social Housing

About the role

We are seeking a Finance Supervisor / Finance Team Leader to join a not‑for‑profit housing association delivering affordable homes, supported accommodation and community services. In this permanent position you will lead day‑to‑day finance operations, supervise processing activities and help keep the finance function running smoothly.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the sales ledger, purchase ledger, banking and nominal ledger operations.
• Maintain cashbooks and perform bank reconciliations across multiple accounts.
• Ensure rent income records reconcile accurately with financial records.
• Post journals and keep the nominal ledger up to date.
• Supervise invoicing, postings and query resolution for the sales ledger.
• Supervise purchase ledger processing, ensuring accurate invoice handling and timely payment runs.
• Monitor rent collection and complete reconciliations promptly.
• Assist with maintaining the fixed asset register and ensure compliance with internal financial policies.
• Manage own workload while providing guidance and support to the wider finance team.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years experience in a busy finance or accounting office.
• Previous role as Finance Supervisor, Senior Finance Assistant, Accounts Team Leader or similar.
• Qualified through finance experience or equivalent practical knowledge.
• GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.

Required skills

• Experience with accounting software.
• Familiarity with payroll systems (beneficial).
• Strong bank reconciliation and ledger management abilities.
• Proficiency in using spreadsheets and word‑processing software.
