Finance Systems Accountant

About the role

We are looking for a Finance Systems Accountant to support a leading public sector organisation’s finance function. The role focuses on the configuration, administration and continuous improvement of specialist finance applications, particularly the Aptitude suite (AICE, AAH, AC). The position is permanent, based in central London with a hybrid working model (40 % office based).

Key responsibilities

• Configure, administer and maintain finance systems, especially Aptitude products.
• Serve as the primary contact for finance system users and business stakeholders.
• Assist with system projects, upgrades, enhancements and testing activities.
• Maintain master data, system controls and user access permissions.
• Monitor system interfaces, reconciliations and data‑integrity checks.
• Investigate and resolve user queries and system issues.
• Produce and maintain process documentation and operational procedures.
• Support reporting requirements and management information development.
• Deliver user training and guidance as needed.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls and system efficiency.

Required profile

• Active SC clearance or eligibility to obtain one.
• Previous experience administering Aptitude systems (AICE, AAH, AC).
• Strong understanding of finance and accounting principles; studying towards or qualified to Level 4 AAT, part‑qualified CCAB, CIMA or equivalent.
• Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office.
• Desirable: project or service management certifications such as PRINCE2, MSP, Agile or ITIL.

What we offer

• Salary range £41,000 – £45,000 per year.
• Permanent contract.
