Finance Team Leader

About the role

We are seeking a Finance Team Leader to join a well‑established not‑for‑profit housing association. Working closely with the Financial Controller and Management Accountant, you will ensure the finance function runs smoothly while leading a small finance team.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain monthly cashbooks and perform bank reconciliations.
• Post journals and keep the nominal ledger up to date.
• Supervise sales ledger, purchase ledger and rent collection activities.
• Run supplier payment processes accurately and on schedule.
• Assist with the fixed asset register and support colleagues with finance queries.
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal policies.
• Prepare board papers and other finance administration tasks.
• Identify and implement process improvements.

Required profile

• Proactive, organised finance professional with a hands‑on leadership style.
• Ability to manage own workload while supervising a small team.
• Strong accuracy, deadline‑driven approach and excellent relationship‑building skills.
• Qualified by experience in finance; GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.

What we offer

• Salary £33,000‑£35,000 per annum (DOE).
• 37‑hour week, Monday‑Friday.
• Hybrid working – primarily remote with occasional office attendance.
