Financial Accountant – Deputy CFO Role

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Financial Accountant to join a growing engineering business in Hemel Hempstead. Reporting to the CFO, you will act as a deputy and help strengthen reporting and audit processes while enjoying a high degree of autonomy.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the external audit process, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
• Support statutory reporting and financial compliance.
• Act as deputy to the CFO, providing insight and assistance on financial matters.
• Improve and streamline reporting processes as the business expands.
• Work closely with senior stakeholders, including the Managing Director.
• Support and mentor a small finance team.

Required profile

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
• Strong background in audit or practice, preferably with experience in audit and statutory reporting.
• Confident communicator able to engage senior stakeholders.
• Proactive mindset with a willingness to improve processes.
