Financial Accountant

About the role

We are seeking a technically strong ACCA/ACA qualified Financial Accountant to join an established business in Dorset. The role will focus on statutory and regulatory reporting, supporting audit processes and driving continuous improvement within a collaborative finance team. Hybrid working with only two days per month in the office.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare statutory accounts for subsidiaries and support consolidated group accounts.
• Coordinate external regulatory reporting and submit group VAT returns, liaising with HMRC.
• Manage year‑end audit requests and provide technical accounting support.
• Produce additional external reports and advise the business on technical accounting matters.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance financial controls and reporting efficiency.
• Line‑manage and develop an Assistant Financial Accountant through coaching and regular one‑to‑one meetings.

Required profile

• Qualified ACCA, ACA or CIMA status.
• Minimum two years post‑qualification experience in financial or statutory accounting.
• Proven experience preparing statutory accounts and supporting year‑end audits.
• Experience with group consolidations and technical financial reporting.
• Knowledge of VAT and experience preparing VAT returns.
• Strong analytical ability with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize workloads.
